SASSA status check in 60 seconds
The fastest way to do a SASSA status check for the R370 SRD grant is on the official website, srd.sassa.gov.za:
- Open srd.sassa.gov.za and choose Application Status.
- Enter your 13-digit ID number and the cellphone number you applied with.
- Tap Send PIN, type the PIN from the SMS, and submit.
- Read the result for each month: Approved, Pending, Declined or another status, with a pay date once one is set.

Why was my SRD declined?
The decline reason on your status tells you which database check you failed. Each has a different fix:
- Alternative income source identified: money came into your bank account
- Existing SASSA grant: you already get a grant for yourself
- UIF registered: UIF records show you employed or claiming
- NSFAS registered: you're funded by NSFAS
- Identity verification failed: details don't match Home Affairs
- Age outside range: the SRD is for ages 18 to 59
- Government payroll registered: you appear on a government payroll

SRD R370: the key facts
- The SRD grant is R370 a month and is currently extended to 31 March 2027 (SRD news).
- It is for people aged 18 to 59 with no or very low income who get no other grant or UIF for themselves. Check SRD eligibility.
- You apply online at srd.sassa.gov.za, and may be asked to reapply or reconfirm.
- Payment goes into a bank account in your name or by cash send. You can change your banking details or your phone number on the official site.
