"NSFAS Registered" is one of the decline reasons SASSA shows on the SRD status page.
What "nsfas registered" means
NSFAS records show you receive NSFAS funding. NSFAS-funded students are not eligible for the SRD grant.
It applies to that month only. SASSA checks again every month, so you can still be approved later. Check every month on the SASSA status check.
Common causes
- You're currently funded by NSFAS
- You applied to NSFAS and were funded for the year
- Your NSFAS record wasn't closed after you left your studies
How to fix it
If you've left your studies or were never funded, get confirmation from NSFAS or your institution and appeal the month. If you're NSFAS funded, the decline is correct.
See our NSFAS and SASSA guide for how the two interact.
How to appeal
- Go to srd.sassa.gov.za and open Appeals.
- Enter your ID and phone number, then the SMS PIN.
- Choose the declined month and the reason that matches your situation.
- Submit within 90 days of the decision, then track your appeal.
