"Age Outside Range" is one of the decline reasons SASSA shows on the SRD status page.
What "age outside range" means
The SRD is only for people aged 18 to 59. Your ID number shows an age outside that range for the month assessed.
It applies to that month only. SASSA checks again every month, so you can still be approved later. Check every month on the SASSA status check.
Common causes
- You turned 60
- You're under 18
- Your ID number has a wrong birth date on Home Affairs records
How to fix it
If you've turned 60, apply for the Older Persons Grant, which pays much more than R370. If your birth date is wrong, fix it at Home Affairs and appeal.
Under-18s can't get SRD, but their caregivers may qualify for the Child Support Grant.
How to appeal
- Go to srd.sassa.gov.za and open Appeals.
- Enter your ID and phone number, then the SMS PIN.
- Choose the declined month and the reason that matches your situation.
- Submit within 90 days of the decision, then track your appeal.
