"Gov Payroll Registered" is one of the decline reasons SASSA shows on the SRD status page.
What "gov payroll registered" means
Government payroll records (PERSAL or similar) show you as employed by government, including some contract and EPWP-type programmes.
It applies to that month only. SASSA checks again every month, so you can still be approved later. Check every month on the SASSA status check.
Common causes
- You work for a government department or municipality
- You're on a government-funded programme that pays through a payroll
- You left a government job but are still on the payroll records
How to fix it
If you've left, ask your former employer for a letter confirming your end date and appeal the month. If you're currently paid by government, the decline is correct.
Keep your appointment and termination letters for short-term government programmes.
How to appeal
- Go to srd.sassa.gov.za and open Appeals.
- Enter your ID and phone number, then the SMS PIN.
- Choose the declined month and the reason that matches your situation.
- Submit within 90 days of the decision, then track your appeal.
